Frequently asked questions

What is Ludelo?

Ludelo is a Finnish learning service where children aged 8–12 learn English by playing Minecraft in guided small groups.

Learning happens by talking, listening, and doing together – not through tests or cramming.

Who is Ludelo suitable for?

Ludelo is suitable for children who:

  • are 8–12 years old

  • like Minecraft

  • want to learn English in practice

Fluent English skills are not required.

What if my child doesn't dare to speak English?

This is very common – and completely okay.

In Ludelo:

  • no one is forced to speak

  • mistakes are allowed

  • instructors gently encourage

  • a small group lowers the threshold

How much English is spoken in the classes?

Classes are mainly held in English, but instructors adapt the language use according to the group's level.

If necessary, the instructions can also be clarified in Finnish so that everyone stays on track.

Is Ludelo just a game?

No. Minecraft serves as a learning environment, but the activity is:

  • guided

  • goal-oriented

  • task-based

Playing supports learning – it is not an end in itself.

How is the lesson going?

The lesson lasts 1.5 hours and includes:

  1. A short teaching session

  2. Tasks in Minecraft in small groups

  3. English-language discussion and collaboration

All students are in the same Minecraft world and the instructor is always available and actively monitors the small groups.

How big are the groups?

Samalle oppitunnille osallistuu maksimissaan 100 oppilasta, mutta oppilaat jaetaan pienryhmiin (Ludelon termein klaaaneihin).

Ryhmät pidetään tarkoituksella pieninä, jotta:

  • jokainen lapsi saa puheenvuoroja

  • ohjaaja ehtii huomioida kaikki

  • oppiminen on turvallista ja tehokasta

  • luodaan klaanihenkeä ja saadaan aikaiseksi ystävyyssuhteita.

Is the activity safe?

Yes. Safety is at the core of Ludelo's operations.

  • The groups are supervised.

  • The Discord server is closed and only available to Ludelo students and teachers.

  • Instructors are always available during class

  • Clear rules and operating models

Are lessons or discussions recorded?

No.

Ludelo does not record lessons, audio, video, or screenshots of students.

Your child's privacy is very important to us.
